Thank you very much for your kind words and your word of advice! It's very interesting what you're saying. I'll be sure to follow it. I have grown somewhat reconciled to the story by now and I am going to go through the edits and do those changes that I see fit and that will hopefully improve the story. Let us hope that there will be readers who will like this type of characters and story!

This is an indication that your creativity and imagination is not limited to your personal preferences. This affords you the ability to write something that may not necessarily entertain yourself, however others may find what you write entertaining. Perhaps during this round of revisions, don't be focused on the fact that you hate it or love it. Focus on how the story should flow. Let direction come from the story itself. If you become overly concerned with the fact that you hate it, then you will try to influence an unatural flow that doesn't fit. Some writers will find themselved diverting from their usual preferences as they follow where their imaginations take them, even if it is down an unlikely path. Stephen King, well known for his horror novels, found himself diverting from his usual style when he wrote "Misery", which turned out to be more a psychological thriller. It became a hit as a best seller and screenplay and reached an entirely new audience, and is now accepted as a classic. If you know what you hate about it and why then you can have a greater awareness when revising and avoid making changes merely to appease your own sense of preferences. Rather, put yourself in the position of the reader who appreciates the type of mystery novel. How it will impact their reasoning. How will this magnitize their mind to every page of your novel.

That's the problem :-) I know exactly what I hate about the book: everything! The story, the characters, the resolution. I don't know why I was compelled to write it in the first place. It's a mystery...

I have received edits from my newest editor (the third one on this project!) and I'm going to start my revision tomorrow. However, once I'm done, I'll take you up on your kind offer and send it over. Thank you!

The key to settling your dilemma is to discovery what specifically you hate about your book, and why. I would be happy to take a look at your manuscript and give you my imput.
